Drawstrings:

Drawstrings on children's snowsuits, jackets and sweatshirts can become caught on playground equipment, fences or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged. Check all children's clothing for loose drawstrings.

  • All drawstrings should be removed from the head and neck area of children's clothing.
  • At the bottom of children's clothing, either remove the drawstrings completely or trim the exposed length to 8 cm (3 in) with the garment fully stretched.
