Associate Deputy Minister Susan M.W. Cartwright

Associate Deputy Minister Susan M.W. CartwrightSusan Cartwright was appointed Associate Deputy Minister of Health in September 2006. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Cartwright was Assistant Secretary, Accountability in Government, at the Treasury Board Secretariat where she led an interdepartmental team in drafting the Federal Accountability Act.

During her career in the federal public service, Ms. Cartwright held other senior positions within the Treasury Board and was also Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans from 2002-2003. She spent 21 years with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade where she held a number of positions, including Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary from 1996 to 1999 and Director General for Western Europe from 1999-2001.

Ms. Cartwright holds a Masters degree in Geography from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelors Honours degree in Geography from the University of Victoria.
