NORTH-WEST MOUNTED POLICE (NWMP)
1873-1904:

Most service records of NWMP members who served between 1873 and 1904 are in the custody of the Library and Archives Canada in Record Group (RG) 18. Use the Government of Canada files database to search for references. Please read the online help screens for instructions on accessing and obtaining copies of files from the National Archives of Canada.

Visit Library and Archives Canada's Canadian Genealogy Centre for information about different types of genealogical records such as birth, marriage, death, military, immigration and census, including information concerning the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

1904-1920:

The RCMP maintains an index of RNWMP members who served between 1904 and 1920. Unfortunately, many of the service records from this period were destroyed years ago. Submit your request for information to the RCMP Historian by e-mail.

1920-present:

Contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

The RCMP maintains service records for members who served after 1920, however, because of Privacy Act regulations, information from a service file is not available to the public until twenty years after the date of death. Submit your request for information to the RCMP Historian by e-mail.
