- Information from the National Clearinghouse on Family Violence and
the RCMP's Dating Violence Manual.
- Subjects include myths about dating violence, warning signs and where
to go for help.
Street Proofing your Children
- Designed to assist children in identifying and reacting to suspicious
or dangerous circumstances.
Canadian Police Week
- Dedicated to increasing community awareness and recognition of policing
services while strengthening police-community ties.
Home Security
- Use this checklist to assess your vulnerability and to see where
your security could be improved.
Safety Tips for Tots
- Tips for parents to use with children who are too young to read.
Protecting Children from Inappropriate Material on the Internet
- A list of products developed to help parents control the content
their children access.
- Each includes a brief description and links to where you can find
them.
Seniors Guidebook to Safety and Security
- Education and awareness of preventive techniques to help recognize
a potential crime situation and reduce or remove the risk.
Victims' Assistance
- Programs and training for volunteers who work with detachment personnel.
- RCMP members also receive training to increase awareness of the importance
of victims' assistance volunteers.
Sexual Assault Investigations
- Regional teams receive in-depth training to respond to more complex,
difficult investigations.
- RCMP Sexual Assault Examination Kit is being reviewed and updated
in consultation with community and professional interest groups.
Societal Violence
- The RCMP addresses a broad range of issues including criminal and
anti-social behaviour, spousal abuse, physical/sexual abuse of children,
and the abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly and the disabled.
Neighbourhood / Blockwatch
- Citizens share information regarding local crime problems, exchange
crime prevention tips and make plans for surveillance and crime reporting
activities (with the assistance of police).
- Four key elements: residential security improvements; appearance
of residence being "lived in"; neighbours working together;
and Operation Identification, a police program for people to label
their possessions.
Summer Student Program
- Provides law and social sciences students the opportunity to work
within the criminal justice system.
- Students perform duties similar to those assigned to RCMP members.
RCMP Venturers Program
- A vocational-style co-ed program which provides 14-17 year-olds the
opportunity to experience policing as a potential career interest.
RCMP Rovers Program
- Similar to the Venturer Program, with participants 18-26.
- Rovers provide advisory and leadership services to Venturers.
