UPDATE - ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED WHEAT IN TUNNOCK’S SNOWBALLS COCONUT COVERED MARSHMALLOWSRelated Alerts: 2006-06-20 | 2006-06-23 | 2006-06-27 OTTAWA, June 27, 2006 - The public warning issued on June 23, 2006, has been updated to include additional product information. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to wheat protein not to consume Tunnock’s Snowballs Coconut Covered Marshmallows described below. The affected product contains wheat which is not declared on the label. The affected product, Tunnock’s Snowballs Coconut Covered Marshmallows, a product of Scotland, is sold in various size boxes (4 pack, 8 pack, 36 pack, and possibly other formats) containing individually wrapped units. In addition, this product is also sold as single units. This product is known to have been sold under various UPCs. All codes are affected by this alert. This product has been distributed nationally. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat protein. The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
