ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED SOY IN NATURES BEST FOODS SPINACH SALADOTTAWA, July 9, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Natures Best Foods Inc. are warning people with allergies to soy protein not to consume Natures Best Foods Spinach Salad. The affected product contains soy protein which is not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to soy protein. The affected product, Spinach Salad, manufactured by Natures Best Foods, Barrie, Ontario, is sold in a 120 g plastic container bearing UPC 8 08272 10079 0. All Best Before date codes up to and including 04 JL 13 are affected by this alert. The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product is distributed in Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy protein. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
