ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED SULPHITES IN DOUBLE SWAN DRIED LILY FLOWERSOTTAWA, August 31, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with sensitivities to sulphites not to consume Double Swan Dried Lily Flowers. The affected product contains sulphites which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have sensitivities to sulphites. The affected product, Double Swan Dried Lily Flowers, a product of China, is sold in a 112 g package bearing UPC 4 891193 120363. The label indicates that this product is packed by Sun Fung Trading Company, Hong Kong. The importer, Sun Fung Foods Canada Inc., Scarborough, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with sensitivities to sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
