HEALTH HAZARD ALERTCERTAIN HEALTHY WAY BRAND SPROUTED GRAIN BREAD PRODUCTS AND TORTILLAS MAY CONTAIN PIECES OF STONESOTTAWA, August 6, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Olafsons Baking Company are warning the public not to consume the Healthy Way brand Sprouted Grain bread products and Tortillas described below as they may contain pieces of stones capable of causing injury. The following Healthy Way brand Sprouted Grain bread products and Tortillas are affected by this alert. The date code can be found on the Quik Lock plastic closure on the package.
Although the affected products may have been sold by now, some consumers may have stored these products in their freezers. For this reason, the manufacturer, Olafsons Baking Company, Annacis Island, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected products. These products have been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northern Ontario, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. Consumption of the affected products may cause injuries. There have been numerous injuries reported which are associated with the consumption of these products. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
