Canadian Food Inspection Agency Policy and Strategies DivisionPrograms Branch intends to achieve consistency and coherence as appropriate among its fourteen discrete commodity programs. The Policy and Strategies Division is responsible for facilitating this achievement by developing cross-program policies and strategies and by coordinating their implementation. The Division is working on: the integration and harmonization of food inspection programs to assist commodity programs to develop harmonized approaches to delivering audit based and traditional inspection activities; the creation of a policy development framework describing the scope, steps and related materials required to establish policy; the development of a policy agenda and environmental scanning capacity; the coordination of the development and implementation of the Agency's Import Control Policy; and the development of a sustainable environmental management strategy for the Agency. PSD also contributes to the development and implementation of strategies involving HACCP and associated files. The Agencys inspection based software, MCAP (Multi- Commodity Agricultural Products) and related IT projects are managed within the Division. Manager: Martin Firth
