HEALTH HAZARD ALERTPRESENCE OF GLASS IN VARIOUS 100% WHOLE WHEAT BREAD PRODUCTSOTTAWA, April 23, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Canada Bread Company are advising consumers of a voluntary recall of 100% whole wheat bread products listed following consumer reports of glass fragments found in these products. The following 100% whole wheat bread products with Best Before dates of AL 07 up to and including AL 22 are affected.
Although all potentially affected products have been removed from the retail level, some consumers may have stored these products in their freezers. For this reason, the CFIA and Canada Bread are asking consumers not to consume the affected products. Canada Bread Company is voluntarily recalling the affected products which were distributed in Ontario. There has been one reported injury associated with the consumption of these products.
