ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED EGG AND WHEAT IN PERLS CHICKEN BURGERS AND ALL BEEF BURGERSOTTAWA, October 15, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to egg or wheat protein not to consume Chicken Burgers and All Beef Burgers, sold by Perl's Meat Products Ltd. The affected products contain egg and wheat proteins which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to egg or wheat protein. The Perl's Chicken Burgers (UPC 0 55925 12530 7) and All Beef Burgers (UPC 0 55925 12355 6), are sold frozen in boxes weighing 910 g . The affected products do not contain lot codes or Best Before dating. The manufacturer, Perl's Meat Products Ltd., Toronto, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. This product has been distributed in Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg or wheat protein. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
