ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED EGG AND MILK IN ORLÉANS BAKERY HOT CROSS BUNSOTTAWA, April 14, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Orléans Bakery are warning people with allergies to egg or milk proteins not to consume Orléans Bakery Hot Cross Buns. The affected product contains egg and milk which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to milk or egg proteins. The affected product, Orléans Bakery Hot Cross Buns, is sold in 900 g packages bearing the UPC 7 76425 99209 0. All codes are affected by this alert. The manufacturer, Orléans Bakery, Orleans, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product is known to have been distributed in Ottawa. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk or egg proteins. There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
