ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED EGG IN HERMES FRENCH BREADOTTAWA, September 13, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to egg not to consume Hermes French Bread. The affected product contains egg which is not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to egg. The affected product, Hermes French Bread, is sold in a 24 oz/680 g package bearing the UPC 7 71696 01200 3. All Use Before Dates are affected by this alert. The manufacturer, Hermes Bakery Ltd., Toronto, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
