ALLERGY ALERT

UNDECLARED WHEAT IN MVK "GLUTEN FREE" MO’STEAK VEGGIE STEAK, VEGGIE DRUMMETTES AND VEGETARIAN NUGGETS

OTTAWA, October 5, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Momo’s Veggie Kitchen Limited are warning people with allergies to wheat not to consume MVK "Gluten Free" Mo’Steak Veggie Steak, Veggie Drummettes and Vegetarian Nuggets. The affected products may contain wheat which is not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to wheat.

All Best Before dates of the following MVK "Gluten Free" products are affected by this alert.

Veggie Drummettes with Sweet and Sour Sauce	180 g
Veggie Drummettes with Cajun Sauce	180 g
Vegetarian Nuggets with Honey Mustard Sauce	180 g
Vegetarian Nuggets with Barbeque Sauce	180 g

The manufacturer, Momo’s Veggie Kitchen Limited, Richmond, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The affected products have been distributed across Canada.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
