ALLERGY ALERTUNDECLARED WHEAT AND SESAME SEED IN CHARLIES SNACKS YOUTH MIXOTTAWA, May 25, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and JVF Distribution L.P. are warning people with allergies to wheat or sesame seed not to consume Charlies Snacks Youth Mix described below. The affected product contains wheat and sesame seed which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to wheat or sesame seed. The affected product, Charlies Snacks Youth Mix is sold in a 275 g package, bearing UPC 0 69313 10040 1. The codes C50505 and C50523 are affected by this alert. The manufacturer, JVF Distribution L.P. Toronto, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in Ontario. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat or sesame seed. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
