Involving recruiting, transporting, transferring, receiving, holding, concealing or harbouring a person, or exercising control or influence over their movements for the purpose of exploiting them or facilitating their exploitation. Trafficking typically involves exploiting the victim’s labour or services.
(sections 279.01–279.04 of the Criminal Code of Canada)

Are they victims?          

  • Are they doing the work promised and being paid what was promised?

  • Are they being forced or pressured to work?

  • Are they in possession of their papers/travel documents?

  • Are they or their loved ones being threatened?

  • Are they free to leave?
