Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee

Current Committee Activities

The Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee reviews and recommends changes to the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directives and hears final level grievances on these authorities, when required by the Executive Committee. The Committee also recommends changes to various rates and allowances on a periodic basis.

Concluded and upcoming items:

• Over the reporting period, the Committee examined one of the Whitehorse Living Cost Differential grievances.
• Mr. Stephen Traynor, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, was nominated last August as the new Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee chairperson.
• The Committee approved the annual revision of the CMHC's Analysis of Shelter Cost Differential 2006 (Appendix M) which will be in effect August 1, 2006. 
• The Committee recommended and requested an extension to the timelines established for the completion of the 2006 cyclical review until April 1, 2007 to the Executive Committee.
