Nick

Oi! My name is Nick and I am a student at the University of Ottawa. I am in my last year of University in which I will be receiving a Bachelor of Social Science with concentration in Political Science and History. I enjoy punk and hardcore music, reading, driving and I indulge myself in Tim Horton's once a day. I also have a couple tats. I don't drink or do drug, I prefer just playing cards with the guys.

I have been involved with youth issues for the last 6 years. I've worked in a low-income housing project as a youth worker and am currently on the Board of Directors at Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa. I am passionate about low-income youth issues as so often these bright kids are looked down upon or just forgotten about. I have also done talks to youth about drugs and alcohol, community involvement, leadership and sexuality. I think that youth engagement is very important and that it is up to the youth of today to speak up and speak out about things that are displeasing them in society today.

Youth.gc.ca has been an important part of my life for the last year. Working with 15 other young people from the Ottawa area, we have put this page together with the help of hundreds of other youth from all across Canada. The neat thing is that I have never met these people face to face - everything has been done online. Through this eclectic group we have came up with what you see here, a useful government site built with the direct consultation of youth across Canada. I hope this Web site is useful to you as our only goal was to create a user-friendly site with all the bells and whistles to make you come back again and again.
