I was the Team Leader for Team 8 until last November's amalgamation, at which point I joined forces with Andrea's team to form the super team I Ate Eleven. In the last year, I helped manage both team rooms, and compiled the results of our group's discussions into twice-monthly reports for the people at Human Resources and Social Development.
In addition, I was also a member of the writing team. We tried valiantly to make the bi-weekly activities tighter, more fun and easier to read and do.
I was born in Toronto but schooled in Calgary, Winnipeg and Fort McMurray, Alta. I did my undergrad in Poli Sci at the U of Calgary. It was a co-operative degree, and I had the chance to do all four of my working terms in Ottawa. It was during these co-op terms that I fell in love with the capital, choosing to continue working here afterwards, and later continuing my education here.
In Ottawa, I have worked in the federal bureaucracy, the IT sector and Parliament. I am now enrolled in the Masters of Journalism program at Carleton U.
I am fluently trilingual (English, French and Ukrainian), and have had the opportunity to use all of them in trips I have taken recently to Central and Eastern Europe.
I am certain that youth.gc.ca will turn out just as good as we planned on that chilly February weekend in Gananoque back in Feb. 2001. I hope that young people in Canada find it as valuable a resource as possible.
