Andrea

Hey,

I'm one of the people whose blood, sweat and tears went into making youth.gc.ca. Make no mistake; it was a labor of love. I live in Ottawa and am graduating from High School in the class of 2002. My hope is to participate in some kind of exchange program that will allow me to live in another country before going on to university. My studies should lead me to a field involving working with youth. I enjoy my time the most when I am either kicking back with friends and family at my cottage, going to youth forums, to concerts, or finding new things to do in Ottawa and beyond.

To bring youth.gc.ca to you here today there was a huge process behind it. Attention was given to EVERY detail imaginable, with a desire to make it the best site possible. Working with the Team Leaders, Lianna, Kim Finn, and Ryan was an amazing experience. These gifted leaders are each special in their own way, making our monthly daylong working sessions fun, unique, and filled with laughter. We also had a blast at two weekend sessions where we worked hard to pull youth.gc.ca together by overcoming challenges which arose along the way. Over the year, I also had the opportunity to work with a team of youth on-line in our own virtual workspace room. Good times! Over a nine-month period, Roman and I lead our team in determining and designing the components of the site and how things were to be run; one piece at a time.

Our overall goal was to bring all youth government services to one site, making a full range of information easily accessible. We came; we played; and we served Young Canadians. The future is now; my hope is that youth.gc.ca will grow and become as important and as useful to you as it has been for me.
