Mike's story

At 27 years of age, Mike gave little thought to his health until he went to a blood donor clinic at work and was turned away because his blood pressure was too high.  His doctor drove home the message for a change by confirming that he not only had high blood pressure, but high cholesterol as well.  Mike suddenly realized that his poor eating habits and his sedentary lifestyle had caught up with him and that he was at-risk for Type 2 diabetes, as well as many other diseases.  According to his doctor, Mike needed to lose 70 pounds (according to a Note: This link to an external site opens up in a new browser window.Body-Mass Index measurement.  Recent family medical problems also drove home the fact that at his age, Mike really needed to get a grip on his health.

Mike decided to do something about it.  He started going to the gym on a regular basis and began  to make small adjustments in his diet, eating a lot less processed foods and microwave-ables and a lot more fruits and vegetables -- he says he didn't cut out all the "fun stuff", rather he just began to make better choices.   These days, Mike is feeling a lot healthier than he has in a long time, and would not have it any other way.
