Christmas

January 2006
by Catherine

The main holiday that my family and I celebrate is Christmas. During the sixteen days before Christmas Day, we get together with family and pray the Novena around a nativity set. We set up a big nativity scene with a miniature town of Bethlehem beside the Christmas tree. It is always fun to go to the homes of my family members for the Novena because we see the many different nativity scenes that everyone has made. On Christmas Eve, we get together with the family for dinner and I watch movies with my friends and cousins. At midnight, we usually attend mass at the church. Christmas is my favourite holiday because I am able to spend a lot of time with my friends and family.

My favourite holiday recipe is fruit with chocolate! Here is a recipe for chocolate fondue dip:

Chocolate Fondue

You can eat this with fruit such as strawberries, apples, and pears.

175 g - bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
125g - Milk chocolate, finely chopped
175ml - whipping cream

Place bittersweet and milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl.

In a saucepan, bring the cream to a boil and pour over chocolate. Whisk until melted.

This makes about 2 cups (500 ml).

Hope you enjoy the recipe!
