On the learning channel, TLC, there is a show called While You Were Out (WYWO). Many people have heard of it, many people love it. And now, because of the awesome cast, the fans are now young and young at heart.
Designing and decorating shows are becoming more and more popular as people begin to realize comfort and style in home décor and want to bring out the craft tools. This is the kind of décor show that teaches you how to redecorate your house yourself, and also it gives viewers awesome tips for cheaper restoration and cool crafts that anyone can do.
In a poll posted on the TLC boards in the WYWO section, 46% of those who voted are between the ages of 12-25, while another 46% are between the ages of 25 and 35. 0% for 35-45, and a small 8% are over 45. Since that fact was posted, younger viewers are watching the show. Several fans were all asked the same question: Why do you love to watch WYWO? They all responded with enthusiasm.
Katrina Darby, 23, from Round Rock, Texas replied, " I like to watch WYWO because you get great decorating ideas and seeing the surprised person's reaction. The cast is great and they seemed to get along together."
It's true that the show has an awesome cast. Host Evan Farmer has a great talent, full of wit, humour and generousity. Mandy Tredway, 14, from New Jersey, was asked, what do you love about WYWO? She responded, "Evan and Ali: Ali is great, she is really cool and super nice and talented. Evan, because he is hot and is very funny and I enjoy watching him on TV. He is also very talented and is a great carpenter." Ali Barone, Carpenter/ Seamstress has added talent and great elegance to the cast. Other cast members include, carpenters Andrew Dan-Jumbo and Jason Cameron; designers John Bruce, Chayse Dacoda, Nadia Geller, Mark Montano and Leslie Segrete, carpenter and seamstress extraordinaire.
When asked about the show, and its impact on people, Leslie replied, " I'd like to think that the show has had an influence on people and is encouraging them to create more." When asked about the theatrics of the show, which is one of the reasons why people love to watch, Leslie responded by saying, " You really have to challenge your creativity and create something theatrical for the audience. That's what people want to see: something theatrical and crazy."
Two 19 year olds were asked why they loved WYWO. Amanda Robichaud, from New Brunswick, says, "I watch WYWO because it is much more interesting than Trading Spaces. Also, the crew seems like a good group of people who interact with each other very well. But I am going to admit, I started watching it every week when Evan became the host." Giselle Bee from Toronto, Ontario, says, " For the amazing decorating ideas they storm out. I mean, who knew that you had to use a primer before painting your walls? I didn't. I guess it's a whole new way of learning how to decorate. Plus, it's such a huge bonus, that the cast is amazingly talented and funny."
So, as you can see, the fans of this awesome show are becoming younger and younger. It might have something to do with the host, well, he's a great host and a great addition to the show, or it might just be the fact that the show is so darn entertaining and super fun.
