Kurt Cobain's death affected people and music lovers form every corner of the world - top to bottom. The lyrics in his songs reached out and touched the lives of fans, voicing the unspoken questions and fears on controversial subjects often hitting close to home. Now, years after the Nirvana singer tragically took his life, Courtney Love - his widowed wife - is being criticized about her decision to release his personal journals. Does she have the right to exploit his most personal secrets and feelings?
Views differ with each person asked, but the question is always the same - who's right? Kurt's fans, still faithful as they were when he was alive in the early 90s are overjoyed by the release of the journals. They feel it is a window into the soul of the disturbed rocker; a way to stay in touch with his way of thinking and keep him alive. Other fans are outraged by the release of his journals, and believe that he should be allowed to finally rest. The public eye and a lack of privacy was cause for the singer's suicide. By killing himself, Kurt felt he had finally put an end to this invasion. He is still in the public eye though, and is still - especially now - lacking his privacy.
Thoughts and memories of Kurt and the legacy he left behind him will forever live on through his fans, but is divulging his journals - the one place he could be himself and let his real feelings show - really the way to keep his spirit alive? He once was a V.I.P. - now let's let him R.I.P. : it's what he wanted.
