NITARSONE (4-NITROPHENYLARSONIC ACID)

Approved Brands: 1. HISTOSTAT 50 contains Nitarsone (4-Nitrophenylarsonic acid) at 500 g/kg (50%) (Alpharma Canada Corp.)
Approved for use: In meal or pellet feed for turkeys
Approved claims: For turkeys - Claim 1.

Claim 1: As an aid in the prevention of blackhead (Histomoniasis) in turkeys
Level of Drug: 187.5 mg/kg (0.01875%) of complete feed for turkeys.
Directions: Feed as sole ration.  Start feeding this medicated feed continuously as the sole ration from one to two weeks before blackhead losses are usually expected.
Note: This product is not effective in preventing blackhead (Histomoniasis) in birds infected more than 4 or 5 days. Signs of blackhead do not appear until 7 to 12 days after the birds become infected
WARNING: 1. Discontinue the use of this medicated feed at least 5 days before treated turkeys are slaughtered for use in food

2. Do not feed to laying hens, replacement and breeding turkeys

CAUTION: 1. Do not use for treating outbreaks of blackhead.
2. Use as sole source of arsenic and do not overdose
3. Turkeys should have access to drinking water at all times.
4. Do not use arsenicals, including this product, in feeds for ducks and geese.
