Animals > Livestock Feeds > Trade Memoranda T-3-1 - VITAMIN A AND BETA-CAROTENE GUARANTEESSeptember 1, 1997 The Animal Health and Production Division has had requests to permit inclusion of beta-carotene guarantees on livestock feed labels. As requirements for beta-carotene have been well established in most livestock species, the Feed Section will allow guarantees on feed labels for minimum mg/kg of beta-carotene. Feeds with label guarantees for beta-carotene require registration and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Registrants will be advised should additional labelling requirements be judged necessary. The Vitamin A guarantee will have to specify if it includes the Vitamin A activity from beta-carotene. In such cases, the following conversion factors will be used to determine the Vitamin A activity from beta-carotene:
