Parks Branch

tombstone camp photoWelcome to Yukon Parks
Parks in the Yukon provide roadside campgrounds and mountain ranges 'full of hush to the brim', short nature trails and endless unmarked routes through untrammelled wilderness. With three national parks, a growing territorial park system, and dozens of campgrounds and recreation sites, the Yukon protects its natural heritage while providing opportunities for tourism, recreation and spiritual renewal.

What we do
Yukon Parks is responsible for a system of parks - natural environment parks, ecological reserves, wilderness preserves and campgrounds - throughout the territory.

Through the Yukon Parks and Land Certainty Act, our mission is to help maintain the diversity of Yukon life by planning and managing parks representing all our natural regions as well as unique and significant natural features. In addition to protecting the diversity of life, Yukon parklands provide visitors with recreational, interpretive, educational, social and spiritual opportunities related to the natural environments of parklands.

Yukon Parks has adopted the principles of Leave No Trace travel. This helps Yukon Parks fulfill its dual mandate of protecting the diversity of Yukon life in a system of protected areas while also providing recreational opportunities for visitors to parklands.
