Foreword

This action plan responds to the findings of the Modern Management Practices Assessment (MMPA) and is composed of new and existing actions, such as day-to-day decision-making and reporting results to clients and Parliament. The plan describes detailed actions to improve management, administration and decision-making across the department. To succeed, the plan must be built on a solid foundation of committed managers and motivated staff who share a clear set of business ethics and values. Implementation of this action plan will enhance Public Works and Government Services Canada's management capacity and improve its ability to administer resources, and manage risks, knowledge and partnerships, leading to better results for Canadians.

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) continually takes steps to improve its ability to provide quality services in a timely and cost-effective manner. PWGSC's strategic outcome is to provide a wide range of services to departments and agencies with due regard for prudence, probity and transparency. Achieving this outcome is a challenge — one that requires us to be as effective as possible in departmental management and decision-making.

We are confident that as PWGSC moves forward and implements this action plan, the department will achieve its goal.
