Foreword

Over the course of the last several years, PWGSC has been instituting modern management practices through its own internal brand of Modern Comptrollership, the Integrated Management Framework. This report, entitled the Modern Management Practices Assessment, provided an excellent opportunity for the department to assess perceptions of progress to date. The results of the assessment affirmed success in many areas. It also indicated that we need to strengthen some management practices. The publication of this assessment marks the completion of an important step towards implementing the Integrated Management Framework and will help us choose where to concentrate our efforts and develop an action plan to further modernize the department's management practices.

The department will incorporate the feedback it has received from this assessment in promoting a work environment that supports a diverse, expert and motivated work force, in improving the way that we provide quality service and solution to clients; and in supporting "good government for Canadians".
