The
Atlas of Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Council
for Geographic Education, is offering this project to schools
across Canada. Since 1997, over 950 Community Atlas projects have been completed by students across Canada.
Building on the past successes of the National Atlas on
SchoolNet and the Our Home CD-ROM project, the Canadian Communities
Atlas Project offers an easy-to-use format that can be adapted
to any curriculum. The atlas structure is designed around
physical, economic and human geographic themes. Participating
schools can access the down-loadable guides and web-page
templates, at no cost.
The project time-lines are very flexible and can be adapted to
any timetable. Schools can develop their atlas site as time and
resources allow. Your Community Atlas can grow, over time, to
become a complete geographical compendium of your community.
Every Community Atlas in the project will also become a resource,
to be used by anyone and any school with Internet access. |
