Note: Letters of Intent and Full Applications should be prepared and submitted by the Principal Applicant in cooperation with the TTO or equivalent of an eligible institution. There is no registration step required.
A letter of intent consists of:
1. A cover page including whether the application is a Phase I or II, the title of the proposal, the amount requested from CIHR, the name and contact information (full address, e-mail and phone number) of the Principal Applicant(s), co-applicant(s) and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Director (or equivalent) of the lead academic institution. For Phase II applications, indicate the name of the partner, their contact information and their intended contribution.
2. A 1-page summary of the proposal (suitable for a multidisciplinary scientific audience) In addition to describing the research, you must describe the stage of the IP, specifically, what the novel invention is, how it will be commercialized, and why you think your application would fit the POP program.
3. The POP questionnaire [ PDF (fillable,132 KB) | PDF (91 KB) | Help ] completed by the TTO Director (or equivalent) of the lead academic institution.
An acknowledgement will be sent via e-mail to both the Principal Investigator and the TTO confirming the receipt of the LOI.
