Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) announces a 3-D iAnatomy
collaboration with California's Stanford University School of Medicine that will
transform the way medical education is taught and learned. This unprecedented
collaboration will allow faculty and students to view and manipulate
high-definition, three-dimensional anatomical representations.

NOSM Supports Development of a Clinical Research

The
Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is supporting the development of a
clinical research institute for Northern Ontario based in Sault Ste. Marie. The
institute will be a central gathering place for the network of research
initiatives taking place across Northern Ontario. The announcement follows a
recent feasibility study by SHI Consulting in consultation with community
members and NOSM staff and faculty with experience in Northern research
initiatives.

most recent Dean's Column, Founding Dean Dr. Roger Strasser explains the
challenging process of attaining medical school accreditation, particularly when
the medical school seeking accreditation is the first to open its doors in
Canada in over 30 years, and only the second in North America in over a
generation.

Aschir of STC Global Inc. (center) presents a donation to the NOSM Bursary Fund
during a tour of the medical school with Francine Chartrand-Dutrisac, Director
of Development Liaison (left) and Founding Dean Dr. Roger Strasser. STC Global
Inc., a technology consulting agency based in Mississauga, Ontario, donated
$5,000 in November to the NOSM Bursary Fund to create the new "STC Global
Bursary" for students studying medicine in Northern Ontario.

Public Enjoys Screening of "High Hopes" in Thunder Bay |

Viewers
at NOSM's West Campus in Thunder Bay enjoyed a public screening of the
documentary "High Hopes” on November 29th, introduced by Founding Dean Dr. Roger
Strasser and filmmaker (and Laurentian University associate professor) Dr. Hoi
Cheu. The film documents the inaugural year of Canada's newest medical school.
All are welcome to attend a public viewing of "High Hopes" at the East Campus in
Sudbury on December 14, 2006.
