Welcome to the National Council on Ethics in Human Research (NCEHR)

The National Council on Ethics in Human Research is:

  • a non governmental organization established in 1989 and incorporated in 2003;
  • sponsored by:
    • Canadian Institutes of Health Research;
    • Health Canada; and
    • The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada;
  • composed of voluntary members interested in furthering its mission.

NCEHR's Mission is:

  • To advance the protection and well-being of human participants in research; and
  • To foster high ethical standards for the conduct of research involving humans.
