Results of the "Needs, Gaps and Opportunities Assessments in the Area of Microbial Contamination of Food and Water, and Anti-Microbial Resistance" competition

The CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III), the Canadian Water Network, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council are pleased to announce the results of the competition (see table below) under the CIHR-III strategic initiative "Needs, Gaps and Opportunities Assessments in the Area of Microbial Contamination of Food and Water, and Anti-Microbial Resistance Safe of Food and Water".

This program was designed to support environmental scans of Canadian research pertaining mainly to the identification of research priorities in the area of food and water safety and to the evaluation of current methods of knowledge translation through existing research networks.

A total of four applications were submitted in October 2002 and subsequently reviewed by an ad hoc peer review committee. One out of the four applications was approved for a competition success rate of 25%.
