Undeclared Peanut Fragments in Packages of Trophy Jelly Beans

OTTAWA - The Health Protection Branch (HPB) of Health Canada is warning consumers allergic to PEANUTS not to consume Trophy Jelly Beans. The cellophane package containing the jelly beans may also contain undeclared peanut components which are not indicated on the label.

This product packaged by Trophy Foods is sold in 1 Kg cellophane bags. The product is distributed across Canada.

This product is considered a health risk ONLY for those individuals who have an allergy to peanuts. Because of the potential for serious allergic reactions, Canadian food regulations require that peanuts or any peanut component be declared on food labels.

Consumers who wish to do so may return this product to the place of purchase.

The manufacturer has initiated a voluntary recall of this product from retail stores. HPB is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
