Undeclared Peanut Residues in Various Hazalenut Flavoured Chocolate Products

OTTAWA - The Health Protection Branch (HPB) of Health Canada is warning consumers allergic to PEANUTS not to consume various hazelnut flavoured chocolate products manufactured by Dynamic Chocolates Inc. of Richmond B.C. These products contain peanut residues which are not indicated on the label and may be found under the following brand names and package sizes:

  • Seashell Treasures, 125g, 250g, and 500g
  • Seashell Treasures Sand Box, 250g
  • Seashells of Canada, 125g and 250g
  • Seashells, in bulk
  • Dolce D'Or Hedgehogs, 44g, 224g, and 570g
  • Hedgehogs, in bulk

The products are distributed across Canada.

These products are considered a health risk ONLY for those individuals who have an allergy to peanuts. Because of the potential for serious allergic reactions, Canadian food regulations require that peanuts or any peanut component be declared on food labels. There has been one illness report related to the consumption of these products.

Consumers who wish to do so may return this product to the place of purchase.

The manufacturer has initiated a voluntary recall of this product from retail stores. HPB is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
