Undeclared peanut residues in President's Choice Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

OTTAWA - The Health Protection Branch (HPB) of Health Canada is warning consumers allergic to PEANUTS not to consume President's Choice Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, 400g packages, with the lot codes 28.11.96 or 07.08.96 indicated on the lid of the container. No other lots are affected by this alert.

This product, which has been distributed to all regions in Canada, contains peanut residues which are not indicated on the label.

The affected product is considered a health risk ONLY for those individuals who have an allergy to peanuts. There have been no illness reports related to the consumption of this product.

Sunfresh Limited, the distributor of this product in Canada, has initiated a voluntary recall of all remaining stocks from retail stores. HPB is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

Consumers who wish to do so may return these products to the place of purchase.
