Re: Hazardous "Intelligence" Rattles and "Intelligence Funny Toys/Jouets amusants"
The purpose of this letter is to advise you that hazardous infant rattles and toys have recently been imported into Canada.
Rattles
The rattles of concern are packaged under the "Intelligence" brand (product no. 1900337). They do not comply with Health Canada's safety requirements for toys, as specified in the Hazardous Products Act and the Hazardous Products (Toys) Regulations. The rattles release small parts that are choking hazards for infants and young children. Three incidents have been reported to Health Canada within the past month.
Five hazardous rattles have been identified: (1) "Intelligence Funny Toys" bear rattle, (2) "Intelligence Roller Rattle", (3) "Intelligence Tumbler Rattle", (4) "Intelligence Rock ‘N Roll Rattle", and (5) "Intelligence Funny Toys" clown rattle. A photograph of these rattles follows.
Please note that the rattles may be packaged differently than depicted in the photo and that a different brand name may be in use.
Toys
There may be other "Intelligence Funny Toys/Jouets amusants" that do not meet Canadian safety requirements. One example is a shape sorter toy (product no. 823). This toy also releases small components that are choking hazards to young children.
The Chinese manufacturer of the "Intelligence" rattles and the "Intelligence Funny Toys/Jouets amusants" has been identified as:

One known Chinese supplier of the rattles has been identified as:

Actions
If you have imported, distributed or sold any of the hazardous "Intelligence" rattles or other "Intelligence Funny Toys/Jouets amusants" for infants or young children: immediately cease distribution and sale of the products and immediately contact your nearest Consumer Product Safety office.
