Child Care Equipment & Children's Furniture

Child care equipment and children's furniture may seem safe at first glance, but these products can pose hazards to infants and young children.

There are simple steps that parents and caregivers can take to check that they are using safe children's products and that they are using the products safely. Read and carefully consider the manufacturer's age recommendation and all other safety-related information that comes with the product. To help prevent injury, be aware of the dangers that children's products may present and take action to reduce these dangers. Information on child care equipment and children's furniture is available from the links below. For safety information on many children's products please refer to Health Canada's publication, Is Your Child Safe?.

Parents and caregivers are reminded that supervision of children is another important part of keeping them safe.

Important: Baby walkers are now banned in Canada. Anyone with a baby walker is advised to destroy and discard the product, so that it cannot be used.

For information on the Baby Walker Board of Review and for information regarding submissions or representations please visit the Next link will open in a new window Board of Review - Inquiring into the Nature and Characteristics of Baby Walkers Web site.
