Training Programmes In Testing Consumer Products

Product Safety Laboratory offers training and advice for organizations (e.g. manufacturers, importers, private laboratories) interested in testing consumer products covered by the Next link will open in a new window Hazardous Products Act. A formal training course is available on cigarette lighters.

Lighter Testing Training

This 3-day course teaches everything about cigarette lighters, from the requirements of the Canadian legislation to the tests performed by our laboratory (hands-on training!). The information and the training you will get will enable you to set up your own testing facility and train your own personnel. Manufacturers can get the benefit of knowing before exporting their product to Canada whether it meets the Canadian requirements. Private laboratories can get the business from Canadian importers who wish to know whether their product complies before it is put on the market.

  • Hazardous Products (Lighters) Regulations
  • Lighter Testing (hands-on training for all six different tests)
  • Reporting of Results
  • Interpretation of Results
