Lianna's Trip to Egypt

 Youth.gc.ca was invited to attend the global Youth Employment Summit in Alexandria, Egypt from September 7 - 11, 2002.
More than 1,500 youth representing 140 countries came together to launch a 10 year plan of action for worldwide sustainable employment for youth.
At the event, youth.gc.ca met up with representatives from Realm - an informative Canadian magazine about life and work in your twenties. Realm was covering the Summit and graciously offered to share their coverage with us (many, many thanks!).

Alexandria Declaration
The event marks a change in how we deal with employment issues on a global front. We, as Canadian youth, must take the time to recognize the global effect of youth unemployment while recognizing barriers and tremendous achievements made by youth around the world. Realm did a tremendous job in covering the event. Be sure to read their articles (and of course, browse their site). Absorb the event, learn about how others are mobilizing youth, be thankful of your rights as a Canadian and take action in developing sustainable employment for youth in your neighborhoods.
