Hallway Traffic

September 2004
By: Gina

Ever find yourself running late for class and nowhere to run? I have too...

HallwayWhen you're walking through the busy hallways at school whether it be morning, noon or after school, there always seems to be at least one obstacle in the way, a garbage can, in the wrong place, a day old lunch sitting in the middle of the hall, and most likely, people. There are all sorts of people roaming the halls, trying to get to class, or get home in one piece. See if you can spot these groups of people the next time you're muscling your way through the crowded hallways.

  • Hallway Pylons - those who stand in the middle of the hall, blocking much of the hallway
  • Weavers - those who weave in and out of hallway traffic
  • Rat Packers - those who jam everything they need for the day in their backpacks
  • Side Steppers - those who come from the opposite direction and are in the same walking path and when trying to move out of the way, mimic your step
  • Line Dancers - a group of people walking together in a horizontal line blocking the width of the hallway
  • Pedestrians - those trying to cross the hallway to get to their locker of a classroom
  • Reversers - those who walk in one direction, then realize that they have class in the other direction
