Boredom

December 3, 2002
by Rob and Perry, Alberta - Encounters with Canada

WomanBoredom. How many times have we heard this word? Either from yourself or from your peers. Through the course of a day, we hear "I'm bored. We're bored. This is boring." So, how do we avoid this doom that we most likely endure during the day?

Boredom comes over us when there is a limited list of things to do. Being a student, I have succumbed to boredom many times during the day and a lot to do with not being bored relies on the people around you and your teacher.

Usually, pulling out a novel or doodling can help, but what can you do when it seems that the minutes aren't passing. Personally, I take a quick a bathroom break, it gets the blood pumping. Having conversations with the people around you, not so much that it disturbs other classmates, but loud enough so that you are awake and can pass some time.

If you ever walk into a room and everyone has a dazed look in their face, they're bored. Again, many students look to the teacher to keep them interested. Teachers need the ability to take any topic and make it interesting and get their classes interacting. Whether it's having debates, presentations, or field trips, teachers need to be humorous and make students feel comfortable. Boredom will not come around as often when. You can't please everyone and someone will inevitably be bored.

I'm bored.
