Regulations Amending the On-Road Vehicle and Engine Emissions Regulations
The Regulations Amending the On-Road Vehicle and Engine Emission Regulations have the primary purpose of introducing new requirements for 2006 and later model year on-road motorcycles. The amending Regulations will ensure that Canadian emission standards for on-road motorcycles remain aligned with more stringent standards adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA). The amending Regulations also contain miscellaneous editorial changes that do not affect the application of the Regulations.
The On-Road Vehicle and Engine Emission Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, on January 1, 2003. The Regulations came into effect on January 1, 2004 to align Canadian standards for smog-forming emissions with those of the U.S. EPA for various classes of on-road vehicles and engines (including motorcycles).
