Status of First Nations Control Activity

  • 79% of eligible First Nations Communities are involved in the First Nations Control Process.

  • 46% of First Nations Communities have assumed greater responsibility for their health care resources through Transfer Agreements
    (141 Signed Community-Based Transfer Agreements representing 279 First Nations Communities)
    and
    19 Agreements for Treatment Programs, Hospitals and 2nd/3rd Level Services.

  • 33% of First Nations Communities have signed Integrated Community-Based Health Services Contribution Agreements (169 Agreements representing 199 First Nations Communities). (Also in the Yukon there are 4 Integrated agreements involving 4 communities.)

Treatment Services Transfer Agreements Activity South of 60°

  • 21% of all treatment services have been transferred.

  • 19% of National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) Treatment Centres transferred. (Eleven out of 58 Treatment Centres transferred.)

  • 40% of Hospitals have been transferred. (Two out of 5 Hospitals transferred.)

Note:  Three Hospitals have been closed.
