The purpose of this consultation is to solicit your comments concerning the revised version of the Children's Sleepwear: Flammability Requirement Guidelines, dated April 2006.

Background

Health Canada is the Federal Department responsible for the administration of the Hazardous Products Act (HPA) and its regulations. The purpose of the HPA is to protect the health and safety of Canadians by prohibiting or regulating the sale, advertisement and importation of hazardous products. Children's sleepwear has been regulated under the HPA since 1987. The Children's Sleepwear: Flammability Requirement Guidelines were developed to assist industry in complying with the requirements of the HPA. The latest version of these Guidelines was published in August 1998 and is presently under review.
