Clothing & Accessories

There are many accessories and clothing items sold in Canada that are made specifically for use by children. These products have different requirements than those products made specifically for use by adults.

Under the Hazardous Products Act, Health Canada regulates accessories and clothing for hazards, such as flammability, and toxicity.

There are some items that are prohibited from sale in Canada. For example, infant self-feeding devices (nouvelle fenêtre Item 15 of Part I of Schedule I to the Hazardous Products Act) are prohibited from sale. Health Canada recommends that infants never be left alone while feeding, as they may choke.

It is important to follow all safety and care instructions for every children’s product that you use. There are flyers, information packages, and health bulletins that you can order through the publications list on this website.
