Wow! I guess if you are reading this, then we finally finished our jobs. You see, the majority of people who worked on youth.gc.ca were young volunteers from across Canada. We would not have succeeded without the help of HRSD staff, who kept us on task, motivated (we won web cams, cordless mice, and cordless keyboards), and made us forget we were doing work at all!
In early 2001, hundreds of young Canadians were chosen, and divided into online Teams, each with a Team Leader. We did approximately one activity per week, each of which dealt with a certain area of youth.gc.ca. For each activity, individuals were chosen to win a prize. At one point, the winners were even given an inflatable chair!
Over the months, it was amazing to see how the work of such a diverse group of people over vast distances was combined to create this terrific site - youth.gc.ca. It would never have been completed were it not for the fun we had in doing each activity, and the motivation that there were other youth out there just like us that would value and appreciate this site as much as we do.
