New Substances Program Advisory Note 2005-04Publication of the Guidelines for the Notification and Testing of New Substances: Chemicals and PolymersThis advisory note is to inform manufacturers and importers of chemicals and polymers and other stakeholders of the publication of the 2005 version of the Guidelines for the Notification and Testing of New Substances: Chemicals and Polymers. Background The New Substances Notification Regulations (Chemicals and Polymers) [NSNR (Chemicals and Polymers)] will be published in the Canada Gazette, Part II on September 21, 2005 and will come into force on October 31, 2005. Amendments to the Guidelines are being made to facilitate understanding of, and compliance with the changes to the new substances notification and assessment process for chemicals and polymers under the NSNR (Chemicals and Polymers). Publication Environment Canada and Health Canada will publish the 2005 version of the Guidelines for the Notifications and Testing of New Substances: Chemicals and Polymers by October 31, 2005. The Guidelines will be available from the New Substances Program's website (http://www.ec.gc.ca/substances/nsb/eng/home_e.shtml) or paper copies can be requested, for a minimal fee, from: Environmental Technology Advancement Directorate Telephone: 1-800-734-3232 (Toll free) Please note that since the modifications made to the New Substances Notification Regulations (Organisms) are strictly administrative, the Guidelines for the Notification and Testing of New Substances: Organisms have not been changed.
