Environment Canada's Volunteers Web site contains exciting volunteer opportunities for people from every walk of life. The programs reflect the diversity of Canadian environmental concerns and include water, wildlife, weather, and environmental action. This site provides resources to enable you to become part of Environment Canada's team of citizen scientists.

Volunteers check lakes once per month in June, July and August, anywhere in Canada, to monitor the numbers and breeding success of loons. This project aims to preserve loons by increasing Canadians' understanding of them and the impact of human activity on their populations.

 Canadian Environment Week 
  June 04 - 10, 2006  

Planting new shrubs. For a list of programs and activities and to find out how to volunteer, visit the E-week Web site. Events occur during the first week of June and are a great way to learn what you can do for the environment in your community.


 Clean Air Day 
  June 07 , 2006  

Celebrate Clean Air Day every year on the first Wednesday of June. As part of Canadian Environment Week, this day promotes activities to raise public awareness of two key environmental priorities: clean air and climate change.
